Abstract: Microscopic identification and thin-layer chromatography identification methods were used to identify and study the Zhuang medicine Schefflera kwangsiensis from different regions. The moisture content, ash content, and extract content of the medicinal materials from different regions were determined according to the methods specified in the 2020 edition of the "Pharmacopoeia of the People’s Republic of China". The results showed that the microscopic identification characteristics of the Zhuang medicine Schefflera kwangsiensis were strong; the thin-layer chromatography identification method used cyclohexane∶acetone∶formic acid of 8.5∶1.5∶0.4 as the unfolding system, which had good separation and clear spots. The best spot separation was achieved with a spreading distance of 15 cm;using a 10% sulfuric acid ethanol solution as the chromogenic agent, the examination was conducted under a UV lamp （365 nm）; the moisture content of Zhuang medicine Schefflera kwangsiensis shall not exceed 12.00%, the total ash content should not exceed 6.00%, the acid insoluble ash content should not exceed 0.50%, and the water-soluble extract content should not be less than 9.50%. The method was easy to operate, stable and reliable, with good reproducibility and reasonable scope, which could provide a theoretical basis for the quality control of Zhuang medicine Schefflera kwangsiensis.
