Abstract: In order to know the volatile and odor components in cigarette packaging paper, the HS-SPME/GC-MS-O technology was used to detect the volatile components of raw paper, semi-finished products and finished products during different printing stages of cigarette packaging paper, as well as the odor components in the finished product. The results showed that a total of 106 volatile components were identified from the samples during five printing stages of cigarette packaging paper, and their main components were aromatic family, esters, and hydrocarbons. Five odor substances, such as nonanal, diethylene glycol butyl ether, p-dimethyl ether, 3-methoxyphenol and 2,5-ditert-butyl-1,4-benzoquinone, were identified from cigarette packaging paper, which were mainly derived from three printing stages of base paper, screen splitting, and gravure printing processes.

Key words: headspace solid phase microextraction (HS-SPME), gas chromatography-mass spectrometry-olfactory (GC-MS-O), cigarette packaging paper, odor components
