Abstract: Under the country's rural rehabilitation policy, the creation of characteristic towns is a new style of urbanization development, and it's also a new approach and deployment for dealing with the issues relating to agriculture, rural are as and farmers. In the process of remarkable development of characteristic towns in recent years, a number of contradictions and issues have emerged, leading to the failure of some characteristic towns. The state has rectified and standardized the construction of characteristic towns in order to ensure that they develop in a healthy and high-quality way. This study explores the benefits and challenges of developing characteristic routes for Mianyang characteristic cultural tourism towns based on the growth experience of Mianyang characteristic towns in Xiantao City, Hubei Province. It serves as a guide for Chinese characteristic towns to choose their future development paths and directions.
