Abstract: Based on the panel data of 31 Provinces(Cities,Autonomous Regions) in China from 2008 to 2017,the influence of carbon emission trading on air pollution governance performance was evaluated by using the difference-in-difference model. The results showed that carbon emission trading significantly improved the performance of air pollution control, and produced a synergistic emission reduction effect and institutional isomorphism pressure. Carbon emission trading drove the improvement of air pollution control performance through innovation mechanism. There were regional differences in the impact of carbon emissions trading on the overall performance and response performance of air pollution control. Therefore, it was proposed that carbon reduction and pollution reduction should be combined to achieve synergy, green innovation and low-carbon development should be closely combined, and precise policy implementation and joint prevention and control should be combined to achieve continuous improvement of atmospheric environmental quality.
