Abstract: In order to study the response of bamboo color to aging treatment and provide some theoretical basis for development and utilization of bamboo. The color change of the treated bamboo slices was quantitatively tested, and CIE 1976 L* a* b* standard chroma system was used for the analysis with respect to the effect of the color of tested bamboo with different ages and stems. The results showed that the color of bamboo changed significantly from dark reddish brown to light yellow, and the brightness changed from dark to light. With the increase of treatment time, L* a* b* mainly showed a trend of the first increase and then stable, which showed a sharp increase after 8 h treatment, and a few showed a downward trend. There were significant differences (ΔE*) among bamboo ages in response to aging treatment, among the base of 4a bamboo reached the maximum 25.13 with aging treatment, while the middle part and lower part reached the minimum 17.82 and 19.01 with aging treatment. Under the condition of column, the main distribution range of yellowish blue and reddish green of different bamboo ages was not different, but the color brightness was different, especially in the middle and slightly part of bamboo. With the increase of aging resistance treatment time, bamboo color of different ages began to show obvious differences.
