Effects of different curing methods on the quality of characteristic new tobacco variety Y28

Abstract: The characteristic new variety Y28 obtained from sun-cured tobacco (Maer) and flue-cured tobacco (Bina 1), was selected as experimental material, and the effects of drying and baking methods on the main chemical components and smoking quality of tobacco were analyzed. The results showed that the drying treatment showed the characteristics of low sugar, high potassium and suitable alkali. The total sugar, reducing sugar and ratio of sugar and alkali of Y28 under baking treatment were all in the appropriate range. On the other hand, the sensory evaluation results of aroma quality, aroma quantity, eating taste, miscellaneous gas, irritancy and total scores of five qualities in Y28 were better under baking treatment than those under drying treatment. On the whole, using the baking method to cure the new variety Y28 can improve the quality.
