Research on the extension of the potato industry chain under the background of staple foods:Taking Enshi prefecture as an example

Abstract: The implementation of the strategy of potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) as a staple food is of great significance for the adjustment of China's agricultural industry structure, the guarantee of food security and the transformation and upgrading of the residents' dietary structure. Based on the influence mechanism of staple food and potato industry chain extension, through field visits and literature review, the development status of each link of Enshi prefecture potato industry was discussed. It was found that the potato production and operation was extensive, deep processing was not enough, and the external consumption pull was small, it was analyzed that the potato industry chain lacked effective technical support for pre-production extension, lacked sufficient financial support for post-production extension, and lacked a favorable external environment for horizontal extension. Based on this, it was proposed that the research and development of new selenium-enriched varieties in high mountains, the cultivation of leading potato processing enterprises, and the strengthening of demonstration and promotion and consumption guidance were the main directions for promoting the extension of the potato industry chain under the background of staple food.
