Abstract: In order to isolate the plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria(PGPR)that exhibit heavy metal resistance, the LB medium supplemented with Cd and the siderophores medium were used to screen suitable strains. Minimal inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of GL-2 strain was determined by plate dilution method. The passivation effects to Pb and Cd on the growth o f wheat under GL-2 strain were added to MS medium in the different treatments. The promoting effect of GL-2 was studied on the growth of wheat by pot experiments. The results showed that the strain GL-2 belongs to Enterobacter ludwigii based on molecular biology and physiological and biochemical identification. GL-2 had a strong tolerance to heavy metals, and the minimum inhibitory concentration of Pb was 650 mg/L.The MS medium added to GL-2 strains could relieve heavy metal influence on wheat growth effectively. There was a significantly effect to increase the root fresh weight, tiller numbers and root dry weight of wheat within GL-2 strains.
