Abstract: Using the method of GIS spatial analysis and sampling survey, the quantity and scale of stripped arable soil in Nanchang city were calculated and analyzed. The results showed that in theory, the total area of stripable topsoil soil in Nanchang was 8 947.12 hm2, and the amount of stripable earthwork was 2 387.42×104 m3;The actual stripable cultivated land area of the cultivated layer to be occupied by non-agricultural construction in Nanchang was 7 036.94 hm2, and the stripable soil earthwork was 1 958.95×104 m3; The total area of cultivated land resources to be supplemented in Nanchang was 15 091.01 hm2, and the total demand for covering soil was 4 527.31×104 m3. The demand for covering soil of the newly-increased cultivated land from dryland to paddy consolidation was in big percentage (53.1%) of the total demand for covering soil of the newly-increased cultivated land in Nanchang. Dry land to paddy consolidation for the quality imprvoment of cultivated land, land consolidation for the development of cultivated land-reserve resources, and urban green space reconstruction were the main directions of reuse scheme of plow layer soil-stripping of cultivated land occupied by non-agricultural construction in Nanchang. Cultivated land occupied by non-agricultural construction abounds with strippable topsoil soil resource, which could meet the needs of more than 40% of the newly-increased cultivated land in Nanchang city.
