Abstract: Eight heavy metal elements (As,Cd,Cr,Cu,Ni,Pb,Zn,Hg) from 364 representative farmland soil surface samples were collected and analyzed in order to systematically understand the pollution level and ecological risk of heavy metals in the typical farmland soil in Huangpi district of Wuhan city. The single factor pollution index and Nemero comprehensive pollution index were used to evaluate the heavy metal pollution status of the farmland soil in this area. The results showed that more than 90% of the farmland soil in the area was in a clean level, and the main pollution was Cd pollution. 7.69% of the farmland soil was in the Cd pollution state, and less than 3.02% of the farmland soil was in the Cu and Ni pollution state. It was not found that the farmland soil was polluted by As, Cr, Pb, Hg and Zn elements.
