Abstract: It was investigated about the different characteristics of Pb2+ or Cd2+ adsorption or desorption onto hydroxyapatite (HAP) and bone charcoal(BC) through batch experiment, furtherly,FTIR were used to explore the mechanisms underlying that. The results revealed that the adsorption of Pb2+ and Cd2+ onto HAP and BC fitted well with both Henry and Freundlich isotherm model,BC had much higher efficiency to remove Pb2+ from aqueous solution compared with HAP,besides, the Pb2+ could be more quickly adsorbed onto BC than that onto HAP. But it was opposite for the Cd2+ adsorption with the much higher removal efficiency and adsorption rate being found on HAP.
