Abstract: In order to solve the problems such as long cycle and damage of traditional wheat seed germination rate, a novel method based on infrared thermography for rapid and nondestructive detection of wheat seed germination rate was proposed. The results showed that the average temperature and heating rate of germinated wheat seeds were higher than that in germinated wheat during two days of the germination, and showed the contradictory results after two days of the germination. Based on the variation of temperature curve of different heating activity of wheat seed germination, the detection model of the germination rate of wheat was built, which achieved rapid and nondestructive detection of the germination rate of wheat seeds.
