Abstract: At present, the optimization of the industrial structure of the manufacturing industry is the focus of economic development in resource-based regions. Based on the panel data of manufacturing industries in six provinces in resource-based regions from 2005 to 2016, the nonlinear relationship between the optimization of manufacturing industry structure and regional economic growth was analyzed from the panel data model and panel threshold regression model. The results show that both the rationalization and the heightening of the manufacturing industry structure have significant threshold effects on economic growth. The higher the level of heightening, the greater the elasticity coefficient of economic growth. When the level of rationalization is low and high, the effect on economic growth is not obvious. Only at a moderate level it will play a positive role in economic growth. At present, the realization of the heightened industrial structure is still the focus of the optimization of the industrial structure of the manufacturing industry in resource-based regions. At the same time, rationalization needs to be placed on a more important position.
