Abstract: The medicinal plants with edible value in the western part of Hubei province were sorted out to provide the basic information for the comprehensive application in this area. By document checking,field interview,field investigation,specimen collection and identification,the plants were sorted according to their value of edible economic and developed application,and cataloged according to Latin names. The populations of medicinal plants with eating habits contained a total of 37 species,and the contents of the basic sources of plants,edible parts,edible methods,effects and related attention and standard record were noted. There are gigantic resources of medicinal plants in the west of Hubei province,with some of them having age-old edible habits in the folk.
